The skin is the largest organ of the body. It has many different functions, including covering and protecting the body. This helps prevent microorganisms from the environment from entering the body. But when there is a break, cut or wound on the skin, microorganisms will enter through the wound and cause skin infection. This can also happen when the body's immune system is weakened due to other diseases or medications. Some skin infections will only cover a small area at the top of the skin. Some infections may penetrate deep into the body's skin or spread to larger areas.
Skin infections are caused by different kinds of microorganisms. Clinical research found that bacteria can cause cellulitis, impetigo and staphylococcal (Staphylococcus) infections; viruses can cause herpes zoster, warts and herpes simplex; fungi can cause athlete's foot and yeast infections.

These skin infections caused by microbial invasion vary according to their infection performance and severity, treatment time, pathogen invasion and the immune response caused. In more severe cases, skin infections can progress to the underlying soft tissues or become systemic infections. Therefore, there is a clinical need for effective drugs or treatments to help the body resist infections caused by these microorganisms. In order to facilitate research on skin infections, we provide a service to evaluate the pharmacodynamic relationship between new antimicrobials and infection outcomes in animal models.
Creative Diagnostics has established an intradermal infection model in mice. In this model, animals are injected intracutaneously with a single source of infection. The test candidate antibacterial drug can then be administered by topical application, oral gavage (PO), subcutaneous (SC), intraperitoneal (IP) or intravenous (IV) injection. Throughout the experiment, the user can customize each research parameter (animal strain, pathogen, comparator and administration schedule) to meet all the needs of the candidate drug in vivo experiment.
We have established intradermal infection models of the following pathogens:
